A few things…

Ah...the sun!!

Happy Weekend Everyone!  I just wanted to share a few things..(and a few pics) for you all!  First, I’m so incredibly excited to announce the upcoming release of my next Ella B. Bella children’s book called – Ella B. Bella and the Secret Ingredient.  It will be done much sooner than I expected – this August!  I will be setting up book signings within the next couple of months and will update you as those become available.  This book will be offered in Paperback AND Hardcover – so extra bonus!

I also wanted to let you all know that I may soon be changing my blog name/design AGAIN!  When I started blogging, I simply wanted to continue my passion for writing, thus I didn’t focus much on the “look.”  However, a new project may soon be starting where that will all change.  So again, I’ll keep you posted.

I’m posting a few pics of my girls from the weekend thus far.  Ella so badly wanted to play outside today but the rain kept us in most of the day.  Here’s to a wonderful weekend to you all!!

Let us OUTSIDE Mama!

Takin' my sis for a ride!

Yum!!! Tasty Toes!!

My Ella..

Comfy Clothes

Alright, the secret is out.  Yes.  I like comfy clothes.  OK, so maybe it’s not such a secret.  If you’ve run into me on a day off, during one of my Target runs, then you’ve seen it.  “Workout pants” (I put these in quotations because my “workout pants” are really just black sweat pants), t-shirt (yes, it is likely the t-shirt I wear will be over 8 years old), flip-flops, pony tail and ZERO makeup.  I get it.  I look different when I try to “fix” myself.  Thus reiterated by my sister Lindsay when she told me several years ago…”Les, you look awesome when you actually get ready.”  Um…thanks??

But..it doesn’t stop with my sister.  On more than one occasion my preppy husband has said, “Les – are you REALLY wearing your 1986 Blue Hill football t-shirt again?”  (Actually, it’s not MY t-shirt considering I wasn’t yet in kindergarten in 1986 – that would belong to my sister Lora or sister Lisa)  And the answer to that question is always, “YES!  It is comfy – and it has very few holes!  Double bonus!”

In their defense, I know I don’t look stellar when I’m in my comfy clothes.  That is why I try to avoid all of you at Target.  I keep my eyes on the ground to limit the amount of contact with the few of you who may actually remember me from Good Life.  I don’t want you thinking..”yikes, she let herself go down hill since she got off of television!”  Truth be told – I’ve looked like this all along.

But today, today I think I took my comfy clothes to another level.  A level that even embarrassed me.  A level that would embarrass the 1986 t-shirt.

Over my lunch hour, I quickly threw clothes into my workout bag.  Old black pants – check!  White t-shirt – check!  White socks – check!  I had what I needed for my 4:15 workout class.  When the time came for me to change, I pulled out my workout clothes as quickly as I had tossed them into my bag.  As I put on my white t-shirt, I noticed it had a funny smell.  I looked down and saw it had a few smooshed food spots on the front.  A quick sniff led me to realize that this shirt had been worn the night before while I was feeding my 10 month old, and those smells were old bananas, mac-and-cheese, and a little bit of regurgitated baby formula.  How the hell did I grab a dirty, old t-shirt??  Awesome.  I threw on my OLD black pants (so old the elastic is out – so I use an old hairband to cinch it together) and started to put on my shoes and socks.  Unfortunately, not only did I mistakenly grab Kyle’s white socks – they were mismatched and way to big for my size 8 feet.  I decided to pull them up anyway, and left the dressing room to check myself out in the mirror.  Here I am – a 29-year-old X-television personality, with a dirty t-shirt, old black – using a hairband to hold them up – pants, socks that go up to my calves, and dirty tennis shoes.

I shrugged it off and went to class.  “At least I’m comfy” I thought.  I grabbed a big workout ball as instructed by our teacher and headed to the front of the class.  I wouldn’t normally be in front, but since I spent so much time in the dressing room, there wasn’t any space left.  About 10 minutes into the workout my comfy clothes went from bad to terribly worse.  I leaned back to adjust my pants when I felt something strange on my behind.  What I felt against the old black stretch material – was my own flesh.  There was a perfect quarter size hole in my pants allowing my rear end to say “Hello world!  Nice to see you!”  A.W.E.S.O.M.E.

Yes, I think I’ve hit a new low.  Perhaps next time I make a Target run, I’ll head over to the workout section to purchase a few new items.  I can’t guarantee, however, that I’ll ever throw away my old 1986 Blue Hill football t-shirt.  🙂

Being a mom…

On August 3rd, 2008 – I experienced something remarkable.  I became a mother.  If you also happen to hold this title, more than likely you understand this same feeling.  The…I would jump in front of a train for you feeling that comes with the awesome responsibility of being a mother.

Baby Ella - August 3rd, 2008

Fast forward 23 months later to July 2nd, 2010 – and that feeling hit me again.  The wow, I can’t believe my heart can hold so much love for two precious baby girls feeling.

Grace - 10 days old

Throughout the past 3 years, that love has continued to grow.  Not only for my two wonderful girls but also for my own mother.  I didn’t understand how much my mother loves me until I became one myself.  Now, each time I experience a triumph or a difficulty in parenting, I thank, (or apologize) to my mother.  🙂

To my mom, thank you for everything – I love you very much!  And to my girls, thank you for filling my heart with more love than I ever thought possible.  I am truly blessed.

Below are a few pics from my mother’s day!  Kyle and the girls took me out to the park for a picnic.  🙂  Happy Mother’s Day to you all!!!

Swingin with Ella!

My Gracie!!

It didn’t hit me until a few weeks ago.  I flipped the pages of one of my favorite magazines and there it was.  An advertisement that caught my eye and got me thinking…

“Reserve your one of a kind replica of THE ring worn by Kate Middleton,” it stated.  “And for a limited time you can also get a doll featuring the dress worn by Kate when she announced her engagement to Prince William.”

My first thought was, “you’ve GOT to be kidding me!  Why am I being inundated with an advertisement of something that isn’t even associated with the country I live in?!”

A few days later I noticed The Royal Wedding was being highlighted on just about every media outlet available.  Even if I DIDN’T want to watch it – it was there, just staring me in the face!  So instead of fighting it, I decided to give in and take a look at what all the commotion was about.  One evening when it seemed my only two television options were Sister Wives, or coverage of the Royal Wedding (seriously – have you SEEN Sister Wives – there.are.no.words) – I chose, as you can image, the latter of the two.

And now just hours before the big event I find myself asking…

What will she wear?  What time will they give the big wave?  Where are they going on their honeymoon?  Will William do something about the fact that he is balding?  Seriously he IS royalty – you’d think he could get a few hair plugs or something) and on and on.  I’m even contemplating waking up at 3 in the morning to watch the historic event!

I’m not sure what happened, but somewhere between the world media frenzy and the modern-day fairy tale – I too became hooked with the phenomenon that is the Royal Wedding.  I get it.  It’s a big deal.  And…it’s kinda fun too.

Now, I have just one question.  Do you think it’s too late to order that “one of a kind” replica ring?  🙂

I leave you with a few pics of Ella and our cat buddy getting into the spirit.  Ok, actually neither of them wanted a pic taken – but I just had to get one for the baby book.  Happy Royal Wedding everyone!!  🙂  We’ll see if I actually get up.

I really don't care mama!!!! Get this thing off my head.-

Over it mom. 🙂
